Hey Jude!
I hope all of you had an amazing week.
Our son recently returned to college from his winter break. During his time at home, he and his dad did a bit of practicing and played Hey Jude by the Beatles! Enjoy!
The Blacksmith’s Bride
I’m still writing The Blacksmith’s Bride – a historical novel set a few years after the Civil War. The Blacksmith’s Bride is the third book in the Romance Bride Series. I’m still researching about blacksmiths during the 1800s. Finding out all kinds of cool stuff. Did you know that blacksmiths often made simple toys with scrap metal? These toys were often metal hoops (which are rolled with a stick), small animals or figurines, toy swords, spinning tops, rattles, bells, and puzzles (metal puzzles of rings that would need to be untangled), and toy wheels for children’s wagons!
As I mentioned last week, Benjamin, the hero, is a blacksmith and this job requires a lot of hard, physical labor. I’m having fun learning new things as I write my novel.
I encourage all of you to preorder a copy!

Martin Luther King Day
I hope all of you had an amazing week.
It’s Martin Luther King Day. This is a day to stop and reflect on all that MLK accomplished for civil rights in America. He used non-violent means to further the rights for people of color. Happy heavenly birthday Dr. King!
We had more snow yesterday! Here’s a short video – apologies for the background noise. My son was watching TV in the living room while I filmed this on my phone! I love snow!
The Blacksmith’s Bride
I’m still writing The Blacksmith’s Bride – a historical novel set a few years after the Civil War. The Blacksmith’s Bride is the third book in the Romance Bride Series. Whenever I write a book, especially a historical, I must do tons of research. Benjamin, one of the main characters, is of mixed ancestry – the term for his heritage – used during that time – was quadroon. Philadelphia, where my story is set, had a large Black population. Sometimes, within the African-American communities, a caste system was formed where people who had lighter skin were seen as having a higher status than those with darker complexions.

Snowman!
I hope all of you had a fantastic week. Regarding the snowstorm we had last week – we received several inches of the white stuff. Our son is home from college for winter break. He got together with his neighborhood friends and built this snowman! Isn’t it great?!

Snow!
We’re in the midst of a massive snowstorm in Maryland! We don’t get snow very often – so when we get a lot – it’s a BIG deal! Most schools and offices are closed. My son had a dentist appointment this morning and the doc called last night to cancel. Here’s a pic of me standing in the snow this morning:
Here’s a video of the snow falling. Isn’t it pretty? I’m glad that my Christmas lights were still up!
