Black History Month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope all of you had an amazing week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just wanted to encourage all to celebrate Black History Month!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I grew up in the seventies. Back then, we didn’t learn about prominent African Americans such as Martin Luther King Jr. in the classroom – at least they did not teach about that in my area. I recall that I had to find out information about them by going to the library and by asking questions. Yes, we did learn about slavery – and I feel that all children need to learn the history of all races who are a part of America. We’re a nation that is built on immigrants as well as those who were forced to arrive here as slaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check out some of my historical titles<\/a>. The Baker’s Bride<\/a> is about a freed slave who is now working in Philadelphia, trying to support herself. She’s also helping with the abolitionist movement. Ruth – the heroine in The Baker’s Bride – her boyfriend died because he didn’t receive medical care since he was a slave. If he’d not been discriminated – he may have lived. Such a traumatic event impels Ruth to do all that she can to obliterate slavery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bThe Doctor’s Bride<\/a> is my other historical title. Back in the 1800’s it was difficult for African-Americans to go to college – it was doubly hard if you were female. But Deborah, a school teacher, is determined to attend a women’s college to study botany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m still writing The Blacksmith’s Bride<\/a>. I’ve been sharing tidbits of research over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember to keep our country in prayer as all\/some of these changes take place! At times, transitions do not run smoothly! Also, remember to pray for all that are suffering in our nation!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be sure to check on your friends and loved ones to be sure they are okay! A friend of mine recently had a heart attack and is scheduled for surgery. If you have friends who are sick or hospitalized be sure to visit or call them to be sure that they are okay!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
