ZONDERVAN Series List — Serenade Sonata

Here’s another extinct inspirational series romance line. The one I blogged about a few days ago, Serenade Saga, was historical. The Serenade Sonata series was contemporary. I recognize some of the authors on this list.

I just finished the novel, Pink, by Marilynn Griffith. I’ll be blogging about that soon.

I can not believe that I actually sat here and read all of the posts up to and including the one for October 3, 2009. I must admit that it pains me to see such dissension over the Honorary D.D. Degree. I have an earned B. S. E. and an earned M. Div. I am an ordained elder in my church and have been a pastor for 17 years. For eight years, I worked diligently with my seminary in recruiting ministers; developing and hosting its website; getting its ancient records digitized from the dusty 60 plus year old paper records; even to the point of helping with its new distance learning program. As result of my efforts, they awarded me with an Honorary D. D. degree. I did not buy it… nor did I request it. It was bestowed on me for my work. I am still poking around those hallowed halls helping where and when I can even to the point of picking up paper that has blown onto the campus. My point is that there are more people out there who have earned their honorary degrees than you think. I assure you, there are far more people carrying degrees from diploma mills in other areas that are not legitimate than D.D’s. But to throw out the baby with the bath water would not be prudent. My signature block does include the D.D. on it. My members call me Reverend or Pastor. I have a few who insist on calling me Reverend Doctor, or Doctor. They all know that it is an honorary degree. My personal goal is to earn a terminal degree, PHD in Religion so that I may teach. Most seminaries relegate the D. Min. to the lighter courses, if they will allow them to teach at all (Different Subject… sigh!). When I preach at other churches or speak at other programs I always insist that in the introduction that it is indicated that the degree is an honorary degree. I am proud of my Seminary and of the honor they have bestowed on me. To not use the title would show disdain for their graciousness and for their vetting process. This degree is a badge of achievement and I wear it proudly.
