This year I’m skipping the norma (i.e., visiting relatives out of town or taking a pot luck dish over to friends). As I type, a pork roast is in the oven, the collard greens with okra are done and the mac & cheese is bubbling. Tomorrow, God willing, I will add baked turkey wings, sweet potatoe souffle and a South Carolina dish called “perleau rice.” Rice cooked in the juices of some type of meat. My plan is to eat, take 5 minute naps, catch a little TV and WRITE, WRITE, WRITE during my time off from my 9 to 5. HAPPY THANKSGIVING from author, Sharon Oliver. http://www.sharonoliver.net

My daughter is home from college and three families (including us) are getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving. I have much to be thankful for this year, among them my new release, Angela 1: Starting Over, which many of your readers may like. Hi Cecelia!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re enjoying your day. I’m thankful that I get to spend it with my family today. There are only a few of us and this year we don’t have a full sized turkey but a turkey breast and a small pre-sliced honey cured ham. To go along with that are dishes of sausage stuffing/dressing, mashed potatoes w/gravy, collard greens, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato ‘fluff’, jellied cranberry sauce, deviled eggs and crescent rolls. We’ll have sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, whipped cream, vanilla bean ice cream and brownies for dessert. It’s a lot of food for us be we love leftovers! We pretty much have the same dishes every year because that’s what everyone wants to have on Thanksgiving no matter what. This year most of it was prepared yesterday so we could enjoy the Macy’s parade and relax this morning. So far so good….

Today – Thanksgiving – I have spent all day making pumpkin pie, deviled eggs, broth for noodles – made the noodles for tomorrow – cooked sweet potatoes which I will finish tomorrow at my daughters. I have talked to two of my sister and my oldest daughter on phone today.
We will be cooking the turkey tomorrow at my daughters.
I am carting all this food over 10 miles to my youngest daughters. There will be her family and her spouse’s Mom and kids Aunt and Uncle on their Mom’s side.
    Happy Thanksgiving

    Hello Cecelia,
    Happy Thanksgiving,
I have been so blessed. I have cooked for 25-30 family members for the last 30 years and loved every minute of it. This year I am cooking for 12 of my immediate family. May husband, two sons, six grandchildren and my father. This is our first Thanksgiving with out our mother. I has been very hard with out her.
Tonight four of my granddaughters have come to spend the night so that they can help me with the dinner preperations tomorrow morning.
We will be making the dressing for the turkey and will also have ham with pineapple and marachino cherries.
Sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, corn and carrots with raisins, cranberries, applesauce, and ambrosia.
For dessert home made banana cream pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cream cheese roll and also ice cream to celebrate my sons birthday! It should be the bomb. Dinner will be at 5:00pm sharp.
