June Book Giveaway!

For June, I’m giving away the following fourteen books. All fourteen of these new/slightly used books will go to one person! If interested, leave a comment with your response to the following question:
Coffee…what do you think about it? Do you love it, hate it, are indifferent? Do you drink it everyday?!

I love coffee. I usually drink a large serving every morning before going to work (that would be about now!). Occasionally, I’ll drink it during the day, too. I don’t go to places like Starbucks very much. I usually make my coffee myself, using Maxwell House or Folgers.

I started drinking coffee sometime after college, after I’d started working full-time. I’d see other people drinking it, so, then I’d start drinking it, too. Plus we had two fifteen-minute breaks, and, people would go into the break room and drink coffee and smoke cigarettes – I didn’t smoke, and this was back in the day when people still smoked inside their workplaces! I was about 22 at the time and the smoke in that coffee room was thick and hazy. After awhile, the closed space bothered me. Smoking was banned from the building a year or so later, so we could enjoy coffee in a smokeless environment. Later, I started drinking coffee at my house. A friend gave me a coffee maker and I started fixing it in the mornings and on weekends.

Anyway, do you recall when you started drinking coffee? About how old were you and what prompted you to start drinking it?

When you leave your comment, don’t forget to leave your email address! Continental U.S. and Canada residents only! Also if you enter the drawing, I’ll add your address to my mailing list. But DON’T WORRY, I only send out mass emails A FEW TIMES A YEAR!

Here’s the list of novels:

1. John’s Quest by Cecelia Dowdy
John French, a science professor, is an agnostic–he’s unsure if God exists. When he’s hired to tutor a blind seven-year-old child, Scotty, he finds himself falling for the child’s beautiful aunt/guardian, Monica Crawford. Monica’s life changes drastically when her irresponsible younger sister abandons her handicapped son on her doorstep. As John helps Monica to educate her nephew, he falls in love with her. However, problems arise when Monica, a devout Christian, finds herself drawn to Scotty’s handsome and intelligent tutor. Monica finds herself in a bind because she knows it’s a sin to be unequally yoked with a non-believer. How in the world can these two lovebirds overcome the huge problems that stand in the way of their relationship?

2. Milk Money by Cecelia Dowdy
Running a dairy farm is a big job, but doing it alone is almost impossible.
When her dad dies, Emily must work hard to save the family farm, but she manages. Until the day the CPA pulls in her drive and announces he’s there to do an audit on the place.
Franklin Reese is appalled at the lack of interest the Cooper women have in the financial end of their livelihood, but he dives in, determined to help them learn. The further he looks into Mr. Cooper’s dealings, however, the more uncomfortable he becomes.
Can he uncover the truth of the situation and still earn the love of the amazing Emily Cooper? Will Franklin’s addiction to alcohol keep them apart, even after the farm is taken care of? Only God can heal hurting hearts and repair broken lives. Will these two let Him in?

3.
Bittersweet Memories by Cecelia Dowdy

When her beloved suddenly disappears, along with thousands of dollars stolen from their mega-church, she re-locates back to her hometown in Annapolis Maryland to live with her mother. She’s stunned to discover handsome plumber Keith Baxter living next door.

4. Salt Water Taffie by Janice Hanna
Taffie Carini enjoys working in her family’s candy store on the Atlantic City boardwalk. But when her parents begin planning their retirement, Taffie finds herself in a sticky situation. She’s not sure she has the moxie or the know-how to manage Carini’s Confections on her own.

When repairman Ryan Antonelli makes a service call at Carini’s, he’s irresistibly drawn to more than just the candy. Although his marketing degree has hardly prepared him to fix a taffy-making machine, Ryan will do anything to help Taffie, with the hopes of winning her heart.

When a business mogul wants to buy Carini’s property to build a new casino, Taffie’s family’s future is threatened. Can Ryan help Taffie come up with a plan to save Carini’s Confections from an unsavory developer? Will they find sweet love together in the process?

From Barnes and Noble.com:
When contacted by her long-lost grandmother, Lauren McKaslin wanted to reconnect—with all the warmhearted Montana McKaslins. For too long, she’d relied solely on herself and her faith. But mistrustful lawman Caleb Stone stood in the way, and his questions about her were intimidating. Was his attention more than a protective instinct? Now that she believed in family again, perhaps this was also the time to believe in true love….

13.
Worth It’s Weight In Old by K.D. Hays – A Karen Maxwell Mystery
Synopsis (from the publisher): Paintings slashed … Furniture broken … Someone is wreaking havoc at the Blue Moon Art & Antiques Gallery.

Fledgling private investigator Karen Maxwell goes undercover as a salesclerk to find out who’s behind the vandalism, and why. She learns little from Vicki, a friendly clerk who seems interested only in rearranging pictures to display them — and her designer clothes and sports car — to maximum advantage. Eric, the shop’s surly, tight-lipped porter, would run over her with a hand truck before he’d answer any questions. The guilt may even lay with the shop owners themselves, despite the fact that they’re the ones who hired her.

Karen’s investigation seems to be going nowhere — just like her once-promising relationship with Brian, the handsome blacksmith who could sweep her off her feet in a minute … if he’d ever take a break from working with the church youth group. Frustration mounts as her dreams of romantic evenings turn into endless rehearsals for the church Christmas play.

If Karen can’t crack the case soon, she may find herself busted back to plain, old office manager, her dreams of a career as a private investigator — and a life with Brian — as old and busted as the Blue Moon’s vandalized antiques.

What a wonderful offer this is. Yes, I love to drink coffee and drink it every day. I used to drink at least a pot a day all by myself but now I only drink a large mug first thing in the morning. Once in a while if we go to life group, will I drink a cup at night. We usually buy flavored whole bean coffee and grind it fresh when we make a pot. Please enter me in the drawing.

I enjoy coffee. I haven’t made any today because I was posting a giveaway for homemade plastic worms made by my dh for Father’s Day. ~ (Bass Fishing) I enjoy adding flavors to my coffee too. (Vanilla, Caramel, Raspberry,etc..) What about you?

Coffee is not one of my favorites, but I do love tea. Every once in a while a cup of coffee sounds good, especially one of Starbucks speciality drinks. Great question! Please enter my name in the drawing.

I love coffee, but my stomach does not. If I could still drink it, I love Breakfast Blends. I’m also addicted to the frappacino’s at Starbuck’s, but my stomach bulks when I have one, so I limit my intake. But I still have one every now and then!!

I would love to win your list of books. Would be a first! What a treat! Like coffee!

I like coffee, but I must have it “doctored” so that I’ll drink it. No black coffee for me. I like to take coffee, hot choc., and creamer and put it together. Mmm, it’s good. Plus I like most of the specialty coffees I’ve gotten to try–though they are expensive, so I don’t have them much.

I like coffee that is cold and flavored. I usually like a cola for my caffeine intake, though. My husband, on the other hand, likes his coffee black.

Coffee…love the smell of it. Enjoy the flavor in foods, like cake, candy, or ice cream. (Is candy a food?) Can’t drink it. Ugh!

It didn’t bother me until September, my Dog that we had JUST rescued had puppies and we Pulled an all nighter, I also had a 16 month old at the time and Couldn’t get in any sleep… We were up for 34 hours when I was finally able to get some rest. I tried drinking coffee that morning and it made me sick, haven’t been able to drink it since then!!

Coffee. Honestly I have never tasted it because it is against my religion to drink it. Instead, I curl up with a mug of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows while I read in front of the fireplace. I would like to read all of these novels. They sound great. I found one recently you might enjoy called Three Women, Three Mentors, One Plane. I applaud the way Harding examines good versus evil in a spiritual context.

    Hi there, 🙂

I remember when I first had a taste of coffee. I was maybe 12/13 and my sis ter and I spent the night at my Aunt’s house because my Parents went out for awhile. Anyway, I told my Aunt that I wanted to try some coffee and she gave me a glass. 🙂 It was sweet and I did like it at the time. Shouldn’t have told the Parents about it though because the Old Man was Like “don’t you do that again”. However, I do enjoy a Strabucks Frappucino every now and then.

    Thanks,

As far as coffee goes, I have tried and tried to like the stuff. I can clearly remember a ladies retreat when I was younger when another teen and I snuck into the kitchen to give it a try. We tried it black, black with cream, black with sugar, black with cream and sugar, all the above hot, and all the above cold. I just can’t stomach the stuff. Maybe it was punishment for sneaking into the kitchen during a Ladies’ Retreat??? I don’t know but I’ll stick to my tea or Spark.

I’ve just started drinking coffee this last year. I usually only drink it on the weekends. I love it flavored. My husband bought all kinds of syrups. He can make lattes and cappuccinos that would rival Starbucks. My favorite is a raspberry mocha cappuccino.

I love coffee I usually have 4 cups of Folgers every morning. I like my coffee strong so occasionally I’ll have chickory coffee. I do not like my coffee bitter and I’ve come across a few that do taste bitter to me other than that I’ll pretty much drink any of it.

Oh, how I do love coffee and it started when I was a little girl. I loved smelling coffee brewing in the old silver percolator with the little glass bubble on top where you could watch the coffee come up and go back through the coffee grind basket. My godmother would let me have coffee in my own mug – 1/3 coffee and 2/3 milk with sugar to taste. When I was about 14 my mother allowed me to drink coffee, Mom drank it black and so did I. I drank mine black with sugar, then I drank iced coffee. I used to drink a pot of coffee a day when I was youn adult but as I became older I had to decrease my caffeine intake. I love Gevalia’s coffee, especially Jamaica Blue, Starbuck’s Sumatra (black), Caribou’s, even 7-eleven’s Mountain and Brazilian if freshly brewed with cream, sugar and flavored syrup. But my most enjoyable coffe time is when I set my coffee maker for a specific time in the a.m. and I’m awakened by the wonderful aroma of fresh brewed coffee. I would love to be considered for this giveaway.

Wonderful giveaway! As far as coffee — I do drink coffee, if you can call it that. See, I take regular coffee and then doctor it up with a ton of sugar and milk and flavored creamers so that by the time I’m done I don’t think it’s really coffee anymore but more of a candied drink 🙂 I don’t do this every day, mostly on the weekends, but I do look forward to those days! I can’t have it every day because it upsets my acid reflux too much — sigh — most unfair!

I love coffee. I am very frugal but not in this area. I have Gevalia sent to me every month and cannot even think of drinking a cup without my French Vanilla Creamer from CoffeeMate. I love the first cup that wakes me up in the morning before I have to get all the kids up and also the cup I have after dinner to signal the end of my day. What do I love about coffee….everything.

This is a great question to go along with a wonderful giveaway. Please add in an entry for me also! I used to hate the taste but love the smell of coffee when I was a young girl. Back then only adults drank coffee! Never iced, always hot and fresh. Whole beans were always bought and grined fresh as you made it. A perculator was the only way to make it and of course on a gas stove. There were no Starbucks or coffee houses. Black or with cream and sugar (real sugar, no artificial sweeteners allowed or found) were the only ways I had ever seen it drank. As I got older I marveled at people who liked coffee and always wondered why. I did like coffee candy though! lol I started drinking it when I was older. I made it for others at work, so the temptation sank in to try it. I actually liked it! Or maybe it was the mystique behind it all…I just don’t really know. Now I drink it at home (already ground) and made in a 4-cup Mr. Coffee electric perculator since I’m the only one who is old enough to enjoy it. lol I don’t drink it every day, but I could if I wanted to! I grew up drinking hot tea all the time. Coffee is a treat and a luxury for me. Sometimes I’ll splurge on Starbucks but that’s very rare. I just could not afford that daily. I like recipes that teach you how to enjoy your own at home. In Washington State coffee houses, sheds, stalls and counters are all over the place…even parking lots! I know there are professional facts on how to buy, store, prepare and drink coffee and that’s pretty interesting too. So are the names that go along with it…Java, Joe, etc. We could write a whole blog dedicated to everything about coffee couldn’t we! Thanks for allowing me to share friend. Perhaps someday I’ll get to share cup with you! Peace always!

I didn’t start drinking coffee until I met my husband, who drank it every morning. We were always tea drinkers growing up.

I prefer my double/double–which I’m told is Canadian-ese for double cream/double sugar (I was rather stunned to learn that many Americans don’t know what a “double/double” is).

I also love Tim Horton’s Iced Cappucino. Yummmmmm!

However when I do drink coffee I have to add flavor to it to mask the coffee taste. Please enter me in the drawing for the books.
