I just discovered that author Frank McCourt died at the age of 78 last Sunday. I read his book, Angela’s Ashes, years ago. Most of you know that I don’t read many non-fiction titles, however, Angela’s Ashes reads like a novel. It’s a humorous story about a boy growing up poor in Ireland. There is great sadness in the story, too. When people tell me that they want to write a memoir then I always direct them to Angela’s Ashes. If you want to know the full story about McCourt’s death, you can read about it here.

Yeah, I read his book a long time ago too. It made you laugh, even though his childhood was full of tragedy and turmoil.
Didn’t realize Frank McCourt died. Glad you mentioned it on your blog. Looks like I need to watch the news more often.
