Why did people in the old testament live for such a long time? Is it because the earth was sparsely populated and they needed to stay on the earth longer, creating more offspring? Is it because people were closer to perfection back then? Since they were more directly related to Adam and Eve, did their bodies last longer since most of the diseases and medical issues we have today did not exist back then?

People lived for such a long time back then that it’s hard for me to imagine. Could you imagine living close to one thousand years? The thought boggles my mind! Being on this earth for such a long time, I’d imagine you’d see lots of changes, lots of people, tons of offspring, children, great-grandchildren, etc.

^…27 So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died.

^….31 So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years; and he died.

 …²⁹ So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.
