Hello lovely readers!

Later-in-Life Couples

I need your help.

I’m starting to plan my next series. I would like the setting to be a retirement community. So, my couples would be later-in-life – over fifty. I came up with this idea because my novella, Caramel Kisses, is a later-in-life romance. It’s one of my most popular titles. One of the reasons why people like it so much is because the hero and heroine are seventy years old! I’ve spoken at events at retirement communities. When I sell Caramel Kisses at these events, I always sell out!

Another reason I’m thinking of using a retirement community is because of the brochures that I’ve been receiving in the mail over the past ten years. Some of those communities look lovely! It’s almost as if you are on a constant vacation. They can be pricey, too! When I looked at what they were charging, I figured that people may sell their homes so that they can move into these lavish communities.

So, I must know, would you be interested in seeing a series set in a retirement community? Do you live in a retirement community or know somebody who does? If so, do you enjoy living there? Email me your responses!

Cookies!

Every week I check the Crumbl cookie flavors. I purchased the Martha Stewart cookies last Saturday. This is second time that I’ve purchased their cookies. The box was yellow instead of pink since it was a special flavor week. We only sampled two of the treats so far. The lemon pie was delicious. I thought the chocolate chip cookies were okay. I liked the salt on them, but, felt that I could have baked a better cookie!

The Blacksmith’s Bride

I’m so excited about the release of my latest book The Blacksmith’s Bride! Both the e-Book and paperback are now available. The Blacksmith’s Bride was #2 on Amazon’s Black and African American Christian Fiction Bestseller’s List. It was #1 for Hot New Releases for Black and African American Christian fiction!

Thanks so much to all of you for your encouragement and support! If you’ve read, and enjoyed, The Blacksmith’s Bride then I highly encourage you to leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads – or wherever you wish!

This book has taken a bit of time for me to write. Historicals are harder for me because of the research involved. I must be sure that the situations are handled in a plausible manner since the story takes place in the 1800s.

When you read The Blacksmith’s Bride you will reconnect with the main characters from The Baker’s Bride. Francine is the heroine in The Blacksmith’s Bride. She was also a secondary character in The Baker’s Bride. You will also see Ruth and Joseph from The Baker’s Bride.

A mute twelve-year-old girl, a former socialite, and a troubled blacksmith…

When Francine’s husband is unexpectedly killed, she loses her wealth. A former socialite, she’s now alone and impoverished. She must find a way to make a living when she’s never worked in her entire life. When she collides with the new handsome blacksmith, her entire world changes.

Twelve-year-old Esther witnessed a double murder. She’s been unable to speak since that painful day. Will she ever find the courage to speak again?

Benjamin Jackson has been plagued with guilt since his wife was murdered. He hopes that a new environment might help him and his daughter Esther to deal with their pain. When they relocate to Philadelphia, his life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters beautiful Francine.

When a traumatic attack occurs, friends must band together and trust in God as they try to overcome evil.

The Blacksmith’s Bride is a suspenseful story filled with faith, love and courage! Order The Blacksmith’s Bride now!

A Bathroom and a Blacksmith – 11-3-2025 Newsletter

Hello Lovely Readers!

Our Bathroom Remodel!

Well, it’s finally finished! My only gripe? I completely forgot to tell them to install the shower chair. The chair was still sealed up in the cardboard box in which it was delivered! It was in our garage and since I never opened it, it was not included with the other fixtures which I gave them to install. During all of the noise and commotion, I was so fixated on my writing that I simply forgot! Bummer!

Since the project was completed they could not install the chair since they’d have to remove and re-install the tiles! Which would have been an added expense. I have a mobile shower chair that I can use as needed. I’m getting better with standing for longer periods of time so I should be fine.

Have you ever forgotten to give a contractor proper instructions? I’d be interested in hearing about it!

Here’s some pics of our new bathroom. It’s so neat! We love it!

Birthday Celebration

Speaking of enjoyment, here’s a few pics from my husband’s birthday celebrations last weekend. His birthday is tomorrow (October 14). We went out to dinner on Saturday night – just the two of us. Yesterday, we met up with relatives and went out again. This is a pic of my husband and my sister in front of the restaurant where we ate on Sunday.

Bathroom Repairs

Our garage is very cluttered right now. We’ve purchased all of the materials for our remodel – with the exception of the tiles and grout – we order that through the contractor. Renovation is supposed to start next week, so, I’ll keep you posted about that. Here’s a few pics of some of the items that we recently had delivered.

It’s autumn! I had a few questions that I’d like you to respond. The questions are about books with an autumn theme. I also have questions about deluxe editions.

Speaking of Christmas, I keep forgetting to raise the price on my Holiday Romance Book Bundle! It’s still $20 – I plan on raising it soon. I’ve just been so busy writing – hard to focus on prices and marketing stuff.

Speaking of markets, the other day my husband and I visited Lowe’s (a large-scale home improvement store) to purchase a few items for our bathroom remodel. First thing I noticed was the Christmas decorations! Aren’t they pretty?

When do you put your Christmas decorations up?

Bathroom Repairs

Do you like shopping for fixtures?

We’re still in the process of repairing our bathroom. Right now, we’re choosing fixtures and other things. We shopped at Floor and Decor – see pics above!

I hate shopping – the only thing that I enjoy shopping for is books. It was a chore to go to the Floor and Decor store to choose tiles and grout. We had to go both Saturday and Sunday! We took a friend with us. Our friend felt that the tile that I chose for the bathroom floor was a bit too bold. Since I’d decided on a black and white theme, I tried to choose a pattern that made me feel something.

When I was looking through the tiles, I didn’t feel a thing. I couldn’t tell if anything looked “nice”. There was a sense of nothingness within me while gazing at hundreds of tiles. It was so overwhelming! I just wanted to go home and work on my novel or read a book!

This is what I chose for the bathroom floor:

This is what I chose for the shower wall:

This will be used for the shower floor:

I’m starting to change my mind about the entire bathroom. I wondered if I should have chosen brushed nickel (instead of black) for the faucets and chosen a blue theme. I saw a few blue-patterned tiles that I really liked! I can’t change my mind now, though. We’ve already purchased a bunch of stuff and need to stay on track. It took such a long time to choose everything.

The only thing left for us to choose is the paint. The contractor implied that we didn’t need to choose that right now.

The contractors will probably start sometime after October 10th – by then, all of the stuff for the remodel should have been delivered.

So, do you enjoy remodeling rooms in your house? Do you enjoy looking at patterns and fixtures?

Bonnets

Do you ever wear hats in public?

In my historicals the women usually wear bonnets. In historical times if a woman didn’t wear a bonnet in public it was considered improper. If they didn’t wear a bonnet, then they might wear a fashionable hat – perhaps similar to the one featured on the cover of The Blacksmith’s Bride.

Nowadays, I mostly notice women wearing hats on Easter Sunday and during tea parties. If you wear hats, when and where do you wear them? Share pics if you have them!

More Trouble on the Homefront – Bathroom

Remember we recently had our downstairs bathroom repaired and partially remodeled due to a leaking pipe and mold?

Well, now our upstairs bathroom needs to be remodeled! Another leak has occurred, and due to the nature of our bathroom’s condition, it’s best if we remodel it.

Have you ever remodeled your bathroom? If you did, how long ago did you remodel it?

Back to School!

As mentioned last week, the kids are going back to school! My son begins classes on August 25th! The public schools in my county start classes September 2nd – the day after Labor Day. Speaking of back to school, have you read The Doctor’s Bride yet?

The Doctor’s Bride is Book #2 in The Romance Bride Series. This is the story about Deborah. When she was a teenager, she had a crush on Timothy, the young man who lived down the street. Timothy ended up marrying Deborah’s twin sister – Eve – instead of Deborah! Several years later, widower Timothy returns to town as the new doctor. Deborah never understood why Timothy married her sister!

Back to School

In last week’s newsletter I mentioned that my sweet grandniece had graduated from preschool. She’s just started kindergarten!

Deborah is now the town’s schoolteacher. She dreams of earning a college degree in botany. Should she accept Timothy’s offer to help her study for her college entrance exam?
