Milk Chocolate Kisses and Milk Money

Isn’t it refreshing to hear kind words?

My novel, Milk Money, which was published years ago, is out of print. Milk Money was published by Barbour, a Christian publisher, and it was distributed all over the world. I even had a fan to state she’d seen it in an Australian bookstore (Koorong). I received the rights back to that story (meaning Barbour allowed me to publish it on my own since they no longer had any use for it). I republished Milk Money and re-titled it as Milk Chocolate Kisses.

I also revised Milk Money and made it more current – before publishing it as Milk Chocolate Kisses. Anyhow, a reader recently acquired Milk Money and she sent me this wonderful email which I’ve been encouraged to share:

Dear Ms. Dowdy,

At my church we have a book exchange box that several of us share

our reading material. I picked up “Milk Money” on Sunday and stuffed in

my purse to read while my mechanic changed my oil and filter yesterday.

I began reading while waiting – he finished too quickly! I marked my place

and as soon as I got home I picked it back up. It’s the first time in many

months that I really didn’t want to put the book down. I finally realized I

needed to sleep some but finished it this morning.

I believe this is the first of your books I have had the pleasure of reading.

I loved every part about it. I wasn’t blessed to be a dairy farmer but my

Mom and Grandparents were long before I came along. I grew up in a

small town and attended church all my life. God didn’t send my husband

until I was 26 so I spent much time seeking his will for my life. He sent

my husband along after I had surrendered to be single if that’s what HE wanted.

Thank you for writing this book. I will be watching for more from you as

I shop. May God continue to bless your writing and your witness for the Lord.

Mary

Such refreshing words! Made me smile today!

I’ve Always Wanted To Write A Book…

I hear that a lot when folks find out that I am an author. Usually, if the person is focusing on Christian Fiction, I’ll point them to ACFW. I just found out that ACFW has an informational video. You can see it here.

I also want to remind you that Milk Money is now available on Kindle for only $3.99. Read this sweet, inspirational story about a dairy farmer who falls in love with her accountant! 🙂

Milk Money – Now Available On Kindle!

My novel, Milk Money, is now available on Kindle! Other outlets that it can be found is eChristian.com, CBD.com, kobobooks.com, Apple’s iBookstore, and ebookstore.sony.com. Out of all of the books that I’ve had published, this one is my personal favorite! If you read it, let me know if you liked it!

Emily can’t keep running her dairy farm all alone. When her dad dies, Emily Cooper must work hard to save the family farm. She manages—until the day a CPA pulls in her driveway and announces he’s there to do an audit. Franklin Reese is appalled at the lack of interest the Cooper women have in the financial aspect of their livelihood, but he dives in, determined to help them learn. The further he looks into Mr. Cooper’s dealings, however, the more uncomfortable he becomes. Can he uncover the truth of the situation and still earn the love of the amazing Emily Cooper? Or will issues in Franklin’s own life keep them apart, even after the farm is taken care of?

Milk Money! :-)

I just found out about the following comment today left on a book review blog for my novel, Milk Money. Milk Money is book #2 in the Chesapeake Weddings collection. Here’s the comment:
Great Book!
by: Anonymous

I’ve been reading Heartsong Presents books lately, and I just started reading Milk Money. I love the story. These books remind me that there is always a loving God who cares about you and will never leave you.

Thankyou, Cecelia Dowdy for writing this book!
-16 years old, NH =)

I love hearing from teenagers! It’s great to see that people are still reading my books and I’m humbled and pleased by the praise.

It’s just so sad that Heartsong Presents no longer exists! 🙁

The Chesapeake Weddings collection is still available at Christianbook.com for only $2.79 if you’d still like to purchase a copy. If you order 3 or more copies, the price drops to $1.79! They make great gifts for friends, family, church members and women’s groups! You can even do some early Christmas shopping and use them as stocking stuffers! 🙂

A Reader Compared Me To Debbie Macomber! :-)

I received the following email recently from a reader:

Hi Cecelia ~
I must tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed Cheasapeake Weddings–John’s Quest, Milk Money and Bittersweet Memories. I don’t know which is my favorite. I’ve enjoyed them all! I love the way you write–so clean, sweet and memorable. Reminds me of Debbie Maccomber.

~Beverly Taylor~

Thanks for the awesome email, Beverly! I enjoyed hearing about how much you enjoyed my stories and I loved that you compared me to Debbie! She’s a great author, and I’ve never had anybody to compare me to her before!

ACFW Conference 2010 – Marketing Your Fiction

A couple of people have emailed me, wanting more details about the conference. The workshop that I attended entitled Marketing Your Fiction taught by author James Rubart and agent Chip Macgregor had a lot of helpful hints. Rubart recently wrote this blog post and on that post he covers a lot of the material that he discussed at the conference.

One thing that Jim said that I really thought was interesting was the social media aspect. I notice when I go to other authors Facebook pages, including mine, a great majority of their friends are fellow writers and authors, which is nice, but, to market your stuff, you have to reach outside of that zone, try to reach new readers.

I try to reach new readers, but, sometimes, it’s kind of hard to think of ways to find people who may enjoy my books. It’s kind and hit or miss for me. I’ve even contacted professional organizations that dealt with alcoholism since my novel Milk Money is about a non-Christian who becomes saved and learns to breaks his addition shortly before he finds Christ. I tried to find organizations that catered to Christian alcoholics and I contacted a few, but never got a response.

Oh well. Any authors reading this who have great marketing tips about how to reach new readers? Comment if you wish!

Where Are My Books?

I had a blog reader to contact me recently with the following question:
I was wondering how I can get a hold of all of your books published? I went to Barnes and Nobles this past weekend and they say they are all out of print. Is that true?

I also went to Amazon.com and I did see some there. I was hoping Walmart in my area had some but no such luck.

I’d love to read all of them and it would be a pleasure.

My response:
Thanks for offering to buy my books!! John’s Quest, Milk Money and Bittersweet Memories, my individual Heartsong titles, will be re-released on April 1, 2010 in an anthology called Chesapeake Weddings! This three-book collection will be available in most bookstores, including Walmart, around April 1, 2010! If you go to a bookstore to find the book, be sure to ask for Chesapeake Weddings – don’t ask for the individual Heartsong titles, or better yet you can always print the page from Amazon and take it to the bookstore with you. That might help locate the title. Here’s the link that features my book from Amazon.

Did you know that if you order at least $25.00 worth of books from Amazon, you get free shipping? You could always order a few copies of my title to give as gifts to friends and family members in order to fulfill the $25.00 requirement for free shipping. OR you could order other books in the Romancing America series. The Romancing America Series from Barbour Publishing are 3-in-1 titles that are re-released Heartsong Presents novels. They’re clean, wholesome reading suitable for people of all ages.

Here’s the link from Barnes and Noble. Your email prompted me to call Barnes and Noble yesterday, just to see what their system said about my next release. The store clerk told me that Chesapeake Weddings shows as “not published yet.” He did say that it shows a publication date of April 1, 2010. I’m hoping that if others go to Barnes and Noble, the clerks won’t tell them that all of my books are out-of-print when I have one coming out in April, 2010! He assured me that most clerks would say that the book has not yet been published, but, you never know what a clerk will say when they’re researching an item for a customer.

I would also like to add that you can purchase Chesapeake Weddings on Christianbook.com and the price is about $2.00 cheaper on Christianbook.com than on other websites.

So, you won’t find it in the stores yet because it hasn’t been released! My first two titles that I had out are out of print, though. Also, the individual Heartsongs aren’t always in bookstores.

Let me know if you still have trouble finding it after April 1!

I still need to post my March Book Giveaway! I haven’t found time to do that yet! Hopefully I will find time to do that soon!
